Dr. Dean Gray comes as tough as they are. When you see him running, adjectives that come to mind are tough and determined. But don’t let his on road toughness scare you; Dr. Gray is as personable and engaging as they come. Dr. Gray is a Chiropractic Physician, who works in both Richwood and Dublin, and has been in practice for the past 22 years. He lives in Byhalia, Ohio and describes it as a terrific place for country running.
Dr. Gray enjoyed running since his elementary school day, though he wasn’t initially a distance runner but rather enjoyed the shorter sprinting races. However a transition from high school football to college rugby emphasized more endurance for distance.
Hi first 5K was around 1995 at the Richwood Springenfest. “It's probably my most interesting races because it encompasses many qualities, can you finish and how fast, it was local and with family and friends and similar to most 5Ks, they are for a good cause or charity.” Over the years it's still one of his favorite races even though it leaves him wondering if the weather will be extremely hot or a possible thunderstorm!
Over the course of running 5Ks each year lead him to triathlons around 2005, thanks to the encouragement of his friend Kenny Cox and his accountability. In 2009 he ran his first Cap City Half marathon and another goal he has is to finish an Ironman, realizing a training commitment needs established.
Last year, 2012, he competed in 12 5Ks. Most of those were part of The Union County GrandPrix Series of Races. Dr Gray has some good advice for anyone starting out. “I would like to encourage all runners to keep putting one foot in front of the other and be mindful of form and recovery which entails stretches, diet, rest and Chiropractic!
