Leprechaun 5k - Open for Registration

The inaugural Leprechaun 5k takes place on Saturday March 19, 2022 at Crooked Can Brewery in Hilliard, Ohio.  All are welcome to join us.

Runner of the Month - April, 2013

April 2013 - Runner of the Month - Dr. Dean Gray

Dr. Dean Gray comes as tough as they are.  When you see him running, adjectives that come to mind are tough and determined.  But don’t let his on road toughness scare you; Dr. Gray is as personable and engaging as they come.  Dr. Gray is a Chiropractic Physician, who works in both Richwood and Dublin, and has been in practice for the past 22 years.  He lives in Byhalia, Ohio and describes it as a terrific place for country running.

Dr. Gray enjoyed running since his elementary school day, though he wasn’t initially a distance runner but rather enjoyed the shorter sprinting races.  However a transition from high school football to college rugby emphasized more endurance for distance.

Hi first 5K was around 1995 at the Richwood Springenfest.  “It's probably my most interesting races because it encompasses many qualities, can you finish and how fast, it was local and with family and friends and similar to most 5Ks, they are for a good cause or charity.” Over the years it's still one of his favorite races even though it leaves him wondering if the weather will be extremely hot or a possible thunderstorm!

Over the course of running 5Ks each year lead him to triathlons around 2005, thanks to the encouragement of his friend Kenny Cox and his accountability.  In 2009 he ran his first Cap City Half marathon and another goal he has is to finish an Ironman, realizing a training commitment needs established.

Last year, 2012, he competed in 12 5Ks. Most of those were part of The Union County GrandPrix Series of Races.  Dr Gray has some good advice for anyone starting out.  “I would like to encourage all runners to keep putting one foot in front of the other and be mindful of form and recovery which entails stretches, diet, rest and Chiropractic!  Thanks, Dr Dean Gray”

Lady Tutu 5k - New Event Launches

The Lady Tutu 5k, a womens-only 5k scheduled to be held on Saturday August 24, 2013 in Creekside Plaza Gahanna, Ohio officially launches as the newest and most fun themed event for 2013.

Themed around the tutu, the Lady Tutu promises to be a fun, family-centered event that will make every lady runner and walker feel special.  Each participant is encouraged to be as glamorous as they want for this event.  From tutu, tiarras, boa's, earrings and rings, dress your best for a fun morning with family and friends.

The course is a friendly, accurately measured 3.1 mile or 5k distance and is ideal for young and old.  Participants can run or walk while enjoying the morning.

The benefiting charity is the Central Ohio Spina Bifida Alliance (COSBA).  Our mission is to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and to make a difference in the lives of all who are touched by Spina Bifida in the Central Ohio area.

Race Report - Muddy Leprechaun 4 Mile Run/Walk

Race Report - Saturday March 16, 2013

Speedy Sneakers Racing's season got started in Chillicothe, Ohio this morning as we timed the Muddy Leprechaun 4 Mile Run.  The event was organized by the Chill Running Club and benefited the Hope Clinic of Ross County

This event has been growing each year, and with over 300 participants this year you could see why.  The event was well organized and what an awesome looking course.  The race has two 2-mile loops, allowing those we don't want to go the full distance they can just pop off on the first lap.

Swag included a great looking tech shirt and drinking glass. 

Awards included stained glass medals (wish I had a photo), these were probably one of the best medals I have ever seen.  To conclude there were raffle prizes to end off the show.

This is a must attend next year.
